About the Role
Location: Hook Norton, Oxfordshire
Hours: Full-time/ part-time, 30 - 40 hours/week (flexibility considered)
Reports To: Head of Nursing Services
You'll be hands-on in our in-house laboratory, processing a wide range of diagnostic samples to support our clinical teams. From haematology, microscopy and biochemistry to faecal analysis and urinalysis, you'll be an essential part of our hospital's daily operations — liaising closely with vets and nurses to ensure timely, high-quality results that inform care decisions.
We're looking for someone confident in their skills, proactive in their approach, and who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the lab, including stock control, machine maintenance and breakdown.
You'll Be a Great Fit If You Have:
At least 1 year of UK experience in a veterinary or clinical laboratory
A calm, focused approach with a keen eye for detail
Strong time management and multitasking skills
A positive, team-oriented mindset
Clear communication skills and professional confidence
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle due to our rural location
Good IT literacy and the ability to learn and quickly adapt to new systems

The Role
Location: Hook Norton
Working Pattern: Permanent, 5 nights on / 9 nights off (6:45 pm – 7:15 am)
Reports To: Head of Nursing Services
Based at our Hook Norton Hospital, this role offers exposure to a wide variety of medical and surgical cases, including emergency and critical care. You'll be working in a well-equipped setting with:
Species-specific dog and cat wards
Dedicated isolation facilities
Two surgical theatres
Dental room with dental x-ray
Diagnostic imaging and in-house lab suites
ECG, multiparameter monitors, portable ultrasound, pulse oximeters, and more.
You'll work alongside our dedicated Night Vet, with support from a Nursing Assistant during the twilight portion of the shift. Crucially, there are no call-handling responsibilities—just patient updates as needed, allowing you to focus on nursing.
You'll play a key role in ward rounds and handovers, helping shape patient care plans and being treated as a true clinical partner.
What We're Looking For
Qualified RVN with minimum 1 year UK experience
Confident in intensive inpatient care, ideally in a GP or referral environment
A calm, compassionate presence—even in high-pressure situations
Team player with strong clinical skills and a hands-on attitude
Excellent time management, initiative, and communication skills
IT literate and quick to adapt to new systems.
Full driving licence and own transport is essential due to our rural location

Hospital Operations Administrator (Maternity Cover) at Hook Norton Veterinary Group, Oxfordshire
Thinking About Moving to an Administrative Role?
We're looking for an enthusiastic RVN who is looking to move to a non-clinical role as a Hospital Operations Administrator. You'll receive full, hands-on training and support from day one in this fixed-term position to cover maternity leave expected to last approx. 12 months.

Hours: Min. 4 days per week, 30-40 hrs per week between 8 am and 6 pm, plus 1:6 Saturdays Registered Veterinary Nurse shift 8 am – 4 pm (paid extra)

Our veterinary practice and Small Animal Hospital are open 24/7, offering everything from routine check-ups and vaccinations to surgery and emergency care. Alongside the small animal hospital, we have three branch practices. We also have a large Equine Clinic, with each department split into specialties of small animal, equine and farm care.
What You'll Be Doing
You will be working alongside our Small Animal Team in this desk-based role, responsible for delivering a consistently positive experience to clients throughout the booking process for non-routine and routine clinical procedures. This role serves as a vital link between clients and the clinical and administrative teams, ensuring smooth coordination, accurate documentation and outstanding service. The role will also involve supporting the Accounts Team with client-focused administrative tasks.
Your day-to-day could include:
Manage the complete booking process for all clinical procedures.
Liaise with clients to determine their needs and align those with available clinical resources.
Provide clear explanations of procedures, pricing, and any available discretionary services.
Communicate all pre-procedure instructions clearly and professionally.
Conduct post-procedure audits on patient records to ensure timely and accurate billing.
Support the Accounts Team in handling client telephone calls and processing payments.
Assist with other administrative tasks as required, particularly during peak periods or staff absence.
What We're Looking For
Minimum of 1 year experience as an RVN who has a confident and professional communication style.
To thrive here, you'll need to be:
A good communicator – clear, calm, and kind
Fast to learn and quick on your feet
Focused, detail-oriented, proficient with Microsoft Office and Robovet (or other PMS)
Positive, proactive, and a true team player
